
Important details, policies, and regulations for 10K Walkathon. Please review these terms carefully to ensure a safe and smooth race day.
Early Bird — applicable until Thursday 31st December 2026:
Normal — applicable from Friday 1st January 2027:
Late — applicable from Friday 26th March 2027 until Saturday 24th April 2027:
Athletes applying online will automatically receive an email with their participant details as submitted.
The Organiser reserves the right not to accept further applications if maximum event cap is reached before this date.
Any applications after the above deadline can be considered by the Organising Committee and shall be deemed as non-eligible for award placing.
A special, locally-designed commemorative medal will be awarded to each race/walkathon participant who crosses the finish line.
The award ceremony will be held at Xaghra Square after the race on Sunday 25th April 2027 at 11:00am.
Details on the race pack collection (which includes race number, timing chip and goody bag) will be shared with registered participants closer to the race.
ALL the participants applying for any of Il-Girja t'Għawdex Races/Walkathon shall be awarded a goody bag. This can be collected from the Teamsport retail shop. Further details will be sent once you apply.
For the Half Marathon, 10K Race and 10K Walkathon the goody bag will include the race number, race timing chip and a commemorative technical product.
For the 5K Walks, Family 2K Run, Kids 2K Race and 900m Kids race, the goody bag will include the race number, race timing chip and a gift.
Participants who for a valid reason are unable to register and collect their race number on the date and time specified above are to contact the Run Gozo team by email info@rungozo.org at the earliest possible.
Transport can be booked at application stage and is only available for Sunday 25th April 2027. Details are as follows:
Park & Ride Shuttle – Xewkija Racecourse
A shuttle service is also available from the park & ride located near the racecourse in Xewkija. View location on map. Participants travelling with their own private transport are also suggested to use this park & ride as a parking area. Before the event, shuttles depart every 10 minutes from 6:30am to 7:20am. After the event, shuttles depart every 15 minutes from 11:00am to 12:00pm. FREE
Although we encourage all athletes and accompanying family and friends to use our provided transport, Public Transport is also available albeit with some deviations. The Public Transport will drop off passengers at the Ġgantija Temples which is situated within walking distance from the Start Line.
We may cancel the event if circumstances beyond our reasonable control arise, including and without limitation to civil or political unrest, terrorist attack or severe weather conditions.
In such circumstances we will, if practicable, provide written notice of cancellation to the email address you provided us. In the event that written notice is not practicable due to the timescales involved we will use reasonable means to provide other suitable methods of notice including, text message and television or radio broadcasts.
In the event of cancellation of the event we will have no responsibility for any costs incurred directly or indirectly as a result of cancellation including any travel or accommodation costs.
A weather professional shall provide updates regarding the weather conditions via our website throughout the week preceding the race. We will also make a pre-race announcement through our public address system explaining the weather conditions of the day to the participants and any weather-related safety tips.
The time limit for the Half Marathon race and 10K walkathon is 3 hours from start time. The time limit for the 10K Race is 2 hours from start time. No traffic management, marshals, water stations and other service including medical services will be available after this time limit along the route. The organisation holds no responsibility for runners who have exceeded the time limit and still continue to run/walk.
Although no lockers are available, your belongings can be left at the Xaghra Youth Centre which is close to the Start and Finish lines. The Xaghra Youth Centre is guarded at all times by volunteers to ensure maximum security and a perfect all-round experience for every participant. Please note that Gozo Half Marathon organisers cannot be held responsible for any damage or loss, therefore we recommend that you do not leave any valuables.
Refreshments are available after the finish line. These include water, isotonic drink, fruits and nuts to assist athletes in energy recover after a challenging race. Keeping sustainability in mind, water is only available in big refills so we encourage athletes to bring their own bottle or alternatively use our sustainable paper cups.
Refreshments in the form of water Stations are also available along the route, approximately every 3.2km (2 miles) for the Half Marathon and every 5km for the 10K. The 10km station of the Half Marathon route also provides and isotonic drink and fruit.
Changes from one race to another can be made by not later than TBC, however, the fees applicable at the time of the change from one race to another shall apply and one will be charged the difference in fees to be able to do such change.
Registration is not transferrable to the next year but it is possible to transfer the registration to another athlete or to another race.
