When and where is the 2027 race?

Il-Ġirja t'Għawdex 2027 takes place on Sunday, 25 April 2027. All races start and finish at Xagħra Square in Gozo, Malta.

When does registration close?

Registration close and tiered pricing dates (early-bird, normal and late) will be confirmed closer to the event.

How and when do I collect my race number / bib?

Bib collection details for 2027 will be confirmed in the Race Info Pack. Bibs are normally collected in person on the day before and the morning of the race, near the start line at Xagħra Square.

Is transport from Malta included?

Yes. Free ferry crossings and shuttle buses are arranged for participants travelling from Malta on race morning. Times will be published in the Race Info Pack closer to the event.

What is the minimum age for each race?

Half Marathon: 17+. 10K races: 16+. 5K Race: 13+. 5K and 10K Walkathons: 16+. Kids 2K Race: ages 8–12. Kids 900m Race: ages 4–7. Family 2K Run is open to all ages.

What's included with my registration?

Every participant gets a finisher medal, a technical race t-shirt (selected races), a goody bag, free refreshments, free race-day photos (low-resolution, watermarked), and free transport from Malta.

Do I get the original high-resolution photos?

Every entry includes free race-day photos in low-resolution, watermarked with our sponsor logos — perfect for social media. High-resolution, unmarked originals can be purchased directly from our photo system once the gallery is published.

Can I get a refund or transfer my entry?

Registration fees are non-refundable. Entry transfers between participants may be allowed up to a cut-off date — please contact info@rungozo.org to request a transfer.

What happens if the weather is bad?

The race goes ahead in light rain. In the case of extreme weather conditions, organisers may delay or modify the event for participant safety. Any changes will be communicated through our website and social channels.

Travel Logistics

Ferry to Finish Line

We have coordinated seamless transit with Gozo Channel so you can focus entirely on your run. Here is how your race morning flows.

0105:45 AM

Board the Ferry

Catch the 05:45am ferry from Cirkewwa (Malta). It is the only crossing that arrives in time for the 06:30am shuttle departure from the Gozo harbour.

02Transport

Shuttles to Start

Free shuttles depart Mgarr Harbour at 06:30am. Driving? Park at Xewkija Racecourse; shuttles run every 10 mins from 06:30am to 07:20am.

03Race Day

Run & Celebrate

Enjoy your race, cross the finish line in Xagħra Square, collect your medal and goody bag, and soak in the festive atmosphere.

04Return

Heading Home

Return shuttles to Mgarr Harbour leave Xagħra Square at 10:30am, 11:30am, and 12:30pm. Park & Ride shuttles run until 12:00pm.

Important: Show your race bib or registration confirmation email to board the event shuttle buses for free.
