A Fitting Tribute To Uniqueness And Valour.

Every participant has found or will find out that running any marathon is a colossal challenge for the body and mind. It is a feat worth bragging about, more so, if that feat involves the crucial and decisive final push towards the finish line, our route so blatantly, and uniquely offers.

A specific (and probably the most famous) part of our route will be the backdrop of this discourse. The last thousand meters have become a symbol of perseverance, resolution, power and sheer focus among the brave who face this daring test. Many agree that the ‘now or never’ feeling kicks in right after exiting the roundabout near Ta’ Ħamet chapel and extremely intensifies upon facing the serpent-like uphill leading to the iconic Xagħra Square. The whitish, megalith extremities of the Ġgantija prehistoric temples soaring above the dark green carob and olive trees adorning the village’s crest, continue to sharpen this enduring physical and mental audition.

This part is just a microcosm of our tough, yet picturesque route. We pride ourselves in offering some of the most challenging terrain anyone could find in the Maltese Islands, which include some of the most phenomenal and magical attributes only the island of Gozo could offer.

Apart from this, we want to instil a new mentality which favours inclusion through sport in order to reach the highest levels of physical and mental wellbeing. As we continuously strive to reach this target in all of our races, we also went a step further and following last year’s medal design competition success, we gave the general public another chance to design the medal every participant will get upon crossing our invigorating finish line. Following thorough consideration, Victor Agius’ submission was deemed the most appropriate one which most mirrored this year’s official motto.

The thought behind this year’s medal design, constitutes the many factors which make the Teamsport Gozo Half Marathon so unique and special. We also believe in simplicity and directness and the official ‘Now or Never’ theme is perfectly encompassed in said design which ties the sense of urgency throughout the final, decisive minutes at the last stage of the route with the unique factors which comprise our whole project.

This simplistic design features the very last part of our route. It is an artistic metaphor to the many sacrifices anyone endures to achieve any goal in any specific scenario. At times, life could prove to be extremely challenging, unfair and harsh. The determination and sacrifices needed to triumph against what life throws at any of us is reflected in the medal we are giving you. Let this be a constant reminder that no challenge is big enough to destroy any person’s courage and resolve.

Our scenario is exigent but charming.
